  • I’m just praying at this point that GameCube prices go down, I did manage to find animal crossing at $50 but still, I don’t what to spend an atrocious amount of money for just one game. BTW thanks for the tips you gave me, it helped me find a few games but I might wanna hold off of GameCube collecting for a bit and try to save for the SNES classic

Edit: I’m still going to keep looking for good prices everyday but a portion of my money is going to get a SNES classic cause I wanted one of those for quite a while, if I find a good GameCube price, I’ll jump on that

  • I hated how they stopped making the Wii backwards compatible, that was a dumb move, let alone that the Wii couldn't even play DVD's when it released '06, they were heading in a bad direction

  • Interesting thing to note about Fire Emblem is that the GBA games in the series (and Shadow Dragon) are going for $25 or so on ebay right now.

While I can't say what they were going for before the virus came, it would seem to me only the GameCube and Wii Fire Emblems have had the price spike.

Also Skies or Arcadia is going for insane prices right now as well but given the disparity between the higher and lower listing, I think there are some greedy sellers trying to jack up prices

  • One could argue that the 2 versions of Twilight Princess are just 2 different branches in the timeline. Same for Master Quest edition.

  • I have 2 copies of Smash melee..one of which doesn't load for some reason. Didn't check it right away because was bumming a copy from a friend. What a waste of 60 bucks.
Moral is, don't buy off Gamestop. I use LukieGames now, I've bought Melee, 2 Spyro games for GC, & DBZ Tenkaichi 3 on PS2 with no issues whatsoever. Thankfully I was just generally trying to get some (for me) retro games. I beat the Covid rush by like 2 months.

  • Well if you have a strong enough pc you could emulate it

  • @18:30 that is probably because you are buying so many at once. If you limited to buying only a few a month, you might have a better enjoyment again of buying. But that then extremely slows down your collecting and can possibly be more expensive if prices continue to rise.

  • I remember I had mele as a kid but didn’t have a memory card and didn’t know what it was. So every time I booted mele up I would unlock and play with as many characters I could😂 oh to be 7 again

  • Nothing to do with social distancing. Prices have been skyrocketing in video games within the last decade. Everyone is in it to make money or for elitism not for nostalgic reasons.

  • Buy the players choice version for a bigger savings and then buy the black label repro art from someone on Ebay that prints covers.

  • I'm VERY glad I got pokemon xd back in 2007 or 8 for like £12. Nowadays it goes for £100 give or take. I also had no idea pokemon box was so expensive!!! I got my copy bundled with pokemon colosseum for £11 lol but it's just the disc so it's probably worth waaay less.

  • As for the Zelda games getting ported over to the Switch, that will likely be the case next year as this year we'll be getting the Mario 35th anniversary collection and next year will be Zelda's 35th anniversary from when that series debuted in 1986.

  • Now I know I'm old when you say Windwaker defined your childhood. For me, it was the original NES Zelda from 1986. As for skyrocketing Gamecube game prices, the best way to circumvent spending exorbitant prices for physical copies, especially if you just want to play these old gems, is to get the Dolphin Emulator for you PC where you can play GC game and Wii game in 1080p. While I love my Gamecube, I don't love the 480p resolution, but I do have a couple of CRT's that make the lower resolution bearable, but I mostly use my CRT's for older 80's and 90's consoles.

  • I'm just here laughing at the people who would pay this much, while I have the entire GameCube catalog installed on my Wii's hard drive.

  • I was fortunate to get my childhood Gamecube/ games and more that they got for it, back from my cousin who I sold to years ago, just before co vid hit, since they were going to sell it anyways. SO i manage to get the actual games and system back which now I see I am very lucky

  • It's funny when you said that things will "go back to normal in the coming year." It won't. Social distancing is going to be a thing until we get that damn vaccine. Sorry bro

  • I really hate to see the prices for a lot of these games as high as they are, especially some of the rediculous ones like gotchaforce or go go hyper grind. I was in elementary school at the hight of the GameCube's popularity but never owned one until I bought one myself in my late teen's. So I have all the nostalgia of playing it at friends houses, but missed out on a good many of it's landmark games.

Not to mention the compulsive goblin brain desire to have the physical media instead of emulating that doesn't make collecting any easier lol

  • On eBay, I found Mario Party 4 for $54.99 in great condition with original case and manual ($62.33 w/shipping and tax). Then Ocarina of Time + Master Quest for $46.95 great condition with original case and manuals, ($57.30 w/ shipping and tax).

  • This is why I don't even feel bad emulating. These games are so old now. The public should be able to enjoy these old gems
